ONLINE CLASSES
Class Types
FCLC offers tutoring and group classes in a secure online classroom. Most classes meet once a week for an hour. Some classes meet more than once and/or for shorter time periods. It all depends on the course and the students' needs.
Class Types
- Private Tutoring: One-on-one instruction. Class time is arranged with each family.
- Semi-private Tutoring: 2 or 3 students together. Class time is arranged with each family.
- Group Classes: 4-10 students together. See the 2011-12 Online Group Class Schedule.
- Latin (Texts used: Latina Christiana I, Latina Christiana II, Henle)
- Math/Algebra (Texts used: A Beka, Saxon, Teaching Textbook, and Math-U-See)
- Religion
- English
- Reading/Spelling Interventions for struggling Readers
- Gregorian Chant
- Homework Help! (NEW)
Students who sign up for this program can log into our online classroom at an assigned time each week for help with homework assignments. Each Homework Help! session is limited to 10 students in the same subject. For example, students studying Beginning Latin (Latina Christiana I and II) will be grouped together in the same Homework Help! class. Only $149 per student for the entire FCLC academic year!
- National Latin Exam (NLE) Prep (NEW)
This 5-week course is designed to help Latin students prepare for the National Latin Exam. Available this year for the following NLE levels: Introduction, Latin I, and Latin II. Schedule: 1/30/2011 - 3/2/2011. Days and times to be announced in October.
THURSDAY PROGRAM
FCLC conducts a group class day for homeschoolers in North Caldwell, New Jersey. We meet once a week on Thursdays and follow a 38-week academic calendar.

- The Thursday Program begins on 9/22/2011 and ends on 6/7/2011.
- Classes and activities are offered for students in Grades K-10.
- "Lunch and Learn" for Parents (discussions focus on issues related to parenting & living a Catholic family life).
- Planned Subjects for 2011-12:
- Pre-K - Gr. 1: Weekly theme-based activities, Religion, Music, Poetry, Physical Education.
- Grades 2-3: Poetry, Geography, Music, Latin Prayers and Hymns, Drama, Creative Writing, Phys. Ed.
- Grades 4-10: Latin, Music (instrument lessons, Gregorian Chant, and choir), Drama, Poetry, Sewing, and Physical Education.
- Pre-K - Gr. 1: Weekly theme-based activities, Religion, Music, Poetry, Physical Education.
- We administer the Iowa Test of Basic Skills at the end of the school year.
MAIN STREET CLASSES
Music Lessons
FCLC offers private and semi-private (2-3 students) lessons in guitar and piano at our main street location. We focus on reading music, musicianship (theory/ear training), and good practice habits. For music selections, we prefer to concentrate on pieces that will help promote order and develop a sense of true beauty in the hearts and minds of our students. We therefore choose classical composers, folk songs, and religious music over rock, pop, and hip-hop.
